The Pink Choice is a series of photographs expressing the love of homosexual couples, one that focuses on living spaces, affectionate touches, and more importantly, the synchronized rhythm of lovers sharing their lives together. Viewers may not feel the personalities of the subjects in the photos, but hopefully they will be able to feel the warmth of their love.
I wanted to show my vision of these people and their love, rather than how they see themselves. Love is beautiful, and I believe that we can only truly be supportive of homosexuality by accepting their love and seeing it as beautiful as it naturally is.
Nguyen Thanh Hai (aka Maika Elan) got her BA in Sociology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, after which she started taking pictures of her daily and personal life. In 2012, her first solo exhibition was hosted at the Goethe Institute, Hanoi. The Pink Choice is represented by MoST Artists. Currently, she is based in Vietnam.
